The State of Mobile Traffic in 2014

March 21, 2014

Are you on your phone right now? According to my most recent calculations, (pushes glasses up noseone out of every five site visitors now come from a mobile device. And that doesn't count anyone who's carrying around a laptop, waiter-style, searching for a wireless signal.

SmallBox has been collecting data across our network of websites for more than two years, and what we've seen across Indiana is the same story that is playing out nationally, and globally. As smartphone technology becomes cheaper, cellphone towers and wireless Internet more available – your audiences are increasingly more likely to be visiting you on the web from a device other than the traditional (not quite a relic of the 20th century, yet) desktop.

Luckily, there's action you can take to ensure that your online property always displays properly, no matter if a user is dialing in from Timbuktu, or smartphoning it in on a beach in the Bahamas. And nope, it's not magic – it's responsive design, which automatically adjusts to the user's device.

Learn about the benefits of responsive design, and the increasing importance of the rising tide of mobile traffic in our new responsive infographic. Click the preview below to view in full!
