To say we like music at SmallBox would be a huge understatement. If you’ve ever stepped foot inside our walls you know we have shelf after shelf dedicated to vinyl and often a whole section of our basement filled to the brim with thousand of records thanks to Webuyrecordcollections.com. Through MFT we are able to bring that love music to the masses with concert series and local shows throughout the year.
But you may be wondering, "What do those ‘Boxers listen to?!" Despite an unsubstantiated online fact that says, “Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times,” we love our headphones. We even have a policy – "if the headphones are on, don’t come a knockin." Without further ado, I bring the fourth installment of We’re Listening!
I'm listening: Night Terrors of 1927- The lead singer was the front man for one of my favorite bands in college, The Honorary Title. So, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic.
Lydia: Ray LaMontagne- This rainy day really put me in the mood for folksy bluesy music.
Kasey: Gonjasufi- I can’t classify it but I love it! It’s classic hip-hop productions meets crazy outsider rock and roll.
Dan: Preservation Hall Jazz- I'm listening to live recordings from the 50th anniversary album. It's authentic New Orleans Jazz from the old-timey music hall that still puts on shows with musicians gathered from around the city. It's fun, upbeat, and great to listen to while working.
Teresa: Arcade Fire- My husband, Joe and I, just bought tickets to their first US date in Louisville. I love their new album Reflektor and I am really enjoying the song Afterlife.
