Meet Lydia!
Small Box staff grows with the addition of Lydia Whitehead
We are all really excited to announce
that Lydia Whitehead has joined our staff as our resident
"Jill-of-all- trades." Lydia can do the heavy lifting on almost
any aspect of a website's development: from design to programming
and project management. Lydia is an Indiana native and graduate of
Ball State, so we're proud to have done our part to ebb the tide
of the much ballyhoo'ed Indiana brain drain.

What It Looks Like When You Own Page One on Google
How a multi-faceted Internet marketing strategy helped Sonicu dominate Google
Sonicu knew from the start that they wanted to rank well for the keywords 'nicu sound monitoring.' Small Box helped lay the foundation for this with smart web design. We applied our proprietary nine-step process to optimize Sonicu.net for search engines and (at the time this newsletter went to press) put the homepage at #1. We integrated the site with Compendium Blogware which allowed Sonicu to snatch the #2 and #3 rankings through blogging. The #5, #6 and #9 rankings were obtained through social bookmarking. Podcasts of an audio interview with Sonicu founder, Chris Smith, secured the #7 and #10 rankings. Lastly, Chris Smith participated in an email interview with a niche industry blog, NICU101.com, to get the #8 ranking.
This is an excellent case study of how a broadbased, 360 degree approach to Internet marketing can achieve dramatic results with Google. By promoting the company and website through multiple new media chanels (blogging, podcasting and social bookmarking), Sonicu owns virtually the entire page. We're proud to have played a role in securing this valuable search engine real estate, but we have to share the credit with Sonicu and Compendium who wrote the blogs and conducted the interviews that have helped bury the competition.
