creative, eccentric, adventurous, looking to improve
SmallBoxer since: January 2012
Favorite thing about working at SmallBox? Having flexibility and freedom as part of my job, working toward concrete goals, facing new challenges, and having a boss who can relate to me - never really had that before.
What do you geek out on? Experimental literature, vinyl records, older movies, craft beers, gourmet food.
What would you do if you weren't working at SmallBox? Teach English at high school or pursue a Master's Degree
When you're not SmallBoxing, you're most likely: going to shows, playing shows, reading books, listening to records, hanging out with my wife or some other friends.
How do you get involved in your community? I've worked and volunteered in public schools for 4 years; played music locally and regionally for 10 years (including many benefits for great causes, at least that's what they told me); formed a record nerd club for vinyl enthusiasts. Buy local and spread the word.
I believe in: true love.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever gotten? "Trust thyself." —Emerson
Favorite band: Beach Boys, Velvet Underground, Everly Brothers, Duke Ellington, Sun Ra
Favorite place in Broad Ripple: My house / my yard
Longest you can go without internet: At least a few days, maybe a few weeks.
What is the meaning of life? To stop trying to figure out what it means.
What's your ninja superpower? Trying as hard as I can in as many ways as I can before giving up.
What's your proudest achievement? Finding my soul mate and having her support no matter what.
Favorite cat video: The cat who plays that jamming song on keyboard
Favorite movie: "Modern Times" by Charlie Chaplin or "True Stories" by David Byrne
Google/Apple/Facebook/Amazon — which one do you like the most and why? Apple, because I use an Apple computer right now
Any noteworthy awards you wanna mention? NUVO's "4th Best Band in Indianapolis," 2009; Composed/performed the score to the Academy Award-winning short film, "Knock Knock", 2005; 1st Place - Winterville Elementary's School-wide Spelling Bee, 1995.
