Neil Kjeldsen

Designer

musician, bicyclist, creative contemplator

SmallBoxer since: May 2011

Favorite thing about working at SmallBox? Getting to create and learning new ways to create on a daily basis.

What do you geek out on? Minimalism, Scandinavian culture, playing and recording music, and bicycles.

What would you do if you weren't working at SmallBox? I would likely be a struggling musician in some form.

When you're not SmallBoxing, you're most likely: writing music or riding bikes with my wife.

How do you get involved in your community? I attend and am involved with the Indy Alliance church, and have been involved with helping to engineer compilation albums with local musicians.

I believe in: a love that overflows.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever gotten? Don't be afraid to fail.

Favorite band: I've never in my life felt I could accurately answer this question — it's always changing somehow. Some bands that I think produce consistently great work are Aloha, Efterklang, David Bazan, and St. Vincent

Favorite place in Broad Ripple: I think I would eat at the Ripple Bagel Deli everyday if I could.

Longest you can go without internet: As long as I need to, but why try, really?

What is the meaning of life? To be love to others.

What's your ninja superpower? Standing and walking on my hands.

What's your proudest achievement? Marrying the most wonderful person I have ever met.

Favorite internet meme: Animals Being Dicks

Favorite cat video: Cats are the living worst.

Favorite movie: I realize that for 11 months of the year this is a strange answer, but A Christmas Story.

Google/Apple/Facebook/Amazon — which one do you like the most and why? Apple. It can't be overstated how much working on a beautiful machine pushes you to want to be a better designer.
