Thomas Doane-Swanson

Digital PR Strategist

prolific, aggressive, ontologically ambiguous

SmallBoxer since: August 2010

Favorite thing about working at SmallBox? The crazy, emergent energy which crystallizes in impressively elegant and effective solutions.

What do you geek out on? Biblical scholarship, Epistemology, literary modernism, critical theory, world history & politics, art, music, "Winning"

What would you do if you weren't working at SmallBox? Work at Slingshot (I am a fulltime employee of Slingshot SEO).

When you're not SmallBoxing, you're most likely: Slingshotting, writing, reading, hanging out with my lady.

I believe in: the Special Theory of Relativity & John 1 are talking about the same structural, temporal principles.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever gotten? "It's not about how you play the game that matters — it's whether you win or lose! And even that doesn't matter all that much."

Favorite band: At present: Deerhunter and associated acts, Animal Collective, various permutations therof, and (since 1st grade) Guns 'N' Roses

Favorite place in Broad Ripple: Monon

Longest you can go without internet: I can quit whenever I want to. I just don't want to.

What is the meaning of life? The meaning of life is beside the point.

What's your ninja superpower? Triple-vision. It's like double-vision only triple.

What's your proudest achievement? It hasn't happened yet.

Favorite internet meme: Double Rainbow

Favorite movie: The Invention of Lying

Google/Apple/Facebook/Amazon — which one do you like the most and why? Google. Because its method of organizing information is going to float us, as a species, into the next stage of human evolution. That would have been true without Apple, so I have to put Google first, while acknowledging that the User Experience would have sucked if that were the case.
